HOUSTON

NEIGHBOORHOODS

Third Ward Cultural District

One of Houston’s most historic and influential neighborhoods, Third Ward blends deep cultural roots with a growing creative scene. Known as the heart of Black Houston, it’s home to legendary music, art, food, and civil rights history, along with the campus of Texas Southern University. Visitors will find murals, soul food spots, jazz lounges, and community-centered events throughout the district.

Montrose

Montrose is Houston’s eclectic, walkable arts and nightlife district, known for its diversity, creativity, and welcoming atmosphere. The historic neighborhood is known for bohemian art and LGBTQIA+ culture. Packed with coffee shops, vintage stores, cocktail bars, international restaurants, and live music venues, Montrose attracts locals and visitors from every corner of the city. It’s especially popular with younger travelers and fans looking for post-match nightlife or relaxed daytime hangouts.

Chinatown/Asiatown (Southwest Houston along Bellaire Boulevard)

Houston’s Chinatown — increasingly referred to as Asiatown because of its broad mix of cultures — is one of the city’s premier destinations for international food and nightlife. The area features Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, Malaysian, Filipino, Thai, and Japanese restaurants alongside bakeries, tea shops, karaoke lounges, and late-night cafés.

East End Houston

East End Houston is one of the city’s oldest and most soccer-connected neighborhoods. The area is a Latino/Mexican American heritage hub that has experienced significant cultural influence from immigrant communities. Visitors will find family-owned taquerias, breweries, public art, music venues, and historic architecture throughout the district.

Fifth Ward

Fifth Ward is a historic Houston neighborhood known for its resilience, musical heritage, and strong community identity. Often called “The Nickel,” the area played an important role in the city’s African American history and remains a center for local culture, food, and grassroots creativity. Visitors exploring beyond the stadium districts will discover historic churches, neighborhood eateries, murals, and community spaces that reflect generations of Houston history. Located just northeast of downtown, Fifth Ward offers visitors a deeper look into the city’s cultural foundations and evolving urban landscape.

Theater District

Houston’s Theater District is one of the largest performing arts districts in the United States, featuring concert halls, opera houses, theaters, and entertainment venues concentrated in the heart of downtown. The area comes alive before and after performances with restaurants, bars, hotels, and busy pedestrian streets.

Museum District

The Museum District is Houston’s cultural showcase, home to world-class museums, green spaces, and some of the city’s most beautiful architecture. Centered around Hermann Park, the district includes museums focused on art, science, history, and natural culture, along with easy access to the Houston Zoo and Rice University area. Visitors will find a calmer atmosphere here compared with downtown nightlife districts, making it a great option for families, international travelers, and fans looking to explore Houston between matches.
